Florence Young: Mission Accomplished
New Zealander Florence Young started her missionary service in China during the deadly Boxer Rebellion. However, China was not to be her final place of service, that was the Solomon Islands in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Florence first encountered Solomon islanders, or Kanakas as they were called, on her family's plantation in Australia. She began to minister among these laborers, and before she knew it, she was headed directly for the Solomon Islands. There she set about sharing the gospel message throughout the islands, often going to villages that were steeped in cannibalism and revenge killings. Undetered by the danger, she kept at her task, and ulitmately the lives of thousands of Solomon islanders were touched by her dedication and love.
